We are just finishing a rather large Belgard Catalina Bella paver installation project in La Jolla, CA, Love your photos of plantings along walkways ,but you do not identify the plants. Also, we have a couple small planting areas at near the edge of a hot tub deck, and would appreciate your suggestions for plants that would thrive in La Jolla that would provide a lot of bloom for the required root volume?
Petunias bloom year-round in California, come in a variety of colors, and do not require a lot of root space. Mexican Heather can be quite lovely and requires very little maintenance. The blooms are smaller, but it works really well for filling out a small bed.
Using techniques like bordering, edging, and terracing really sounds interesting to someone like me. Just thinking about all the different ways we can approach a project like this gets me excited for the end result. To make sure we have someone helping us, I’ll call over a landscape expert that has expertise on these kinds of methods.
